Personal Injury, Clinical Negligence & Inquests

Consistently in Band 1 of the Personal Injury section of Chambers & Partners, the 2008 edition headlined 30 Park Place as "...comfortable handling all manner of claimant and defendant work; this set is the first port of call for many in Wales".

The Group comprises a strong and experienced team of specialist personal injury and clinical negligence practitioners able to cover the whole spectrum of work including claims risk assessment, advisory work, drafting and advocacy at all Court levels (from small claims to multi-track and at appeal level) as well as providing continuing professional education by way of lectures and seminars on request either in-house or at Chambers.

Members of the Group are on the panels of approved Counsel for a number of major insurers, NHS Trusts, the Police, Her Majesty's Treasury and the National Assembly for Wales and act regularly for private and institutional clients and for Trades Unions.

Group members are regular contributors to Butterworths Personal Injury Litigation Service, Current Law and Kemp & Kemp.

Members of the Group regularly present Law Society Accredited and Continuing Professional Development Accredited seminars on personal injuries and civil litigation topics.

Instructions can be received and dealt with either on paper in the traditional way or in purely electronic form via email. Work can be carried out at pre-arranged fixed fees and hourly rates or by negotiation if required.

The Personal Injuries Group in Chambers has embraced the Conditional Fee Agreement system and offers a bespoke risk assessment service to our instructing solicitors in respect of claims at any point in the litigation process, whether that be at a pre-action stage, or at any point up to trial.

Each member of the Group adheres to a Chambers Protocol for the assessment of proposed Claims, which ensures that each claim is evaluated as to its prospects of success by at least two Personal Injury practitioners, thus ensuring the availability and readiness of Counsel to remain instructed in the claim all the way until, and including, trial.

The Personal Injuries Group already has well-established and, often individually-negotiated, procedures with each firm of its instructing solicitors to undertake the evaluation of claims proceeding on a Conditional Fee basis, which can often include the provision of screening advices free of charge, and advices and pleadings on a "quick-turnaround" basis for bulk Claimant Personal Injury referrals.
