After obtaining a degree in law from Leeds University in 1978, Peter studied drama at Bretton Hall College near Wakefield with a view to pursuing a career as an actor. However he came back down to earth in 1981 when he was called to the Bar. At the Middle Temple he was the holder of the Jules Thorne Open Law Scholarship.
From 1986 to 2001 Peter practised as a criminal solicitor, and from 1991 until his return to the Bar in 2001 he was a partner in the criminal law firm of Spiro Grech and Harding Roberts, where latterly he conducted that firm's Crown Court criminal advocacy.
Throughout his career Peter has largely specialised in defence work but he does now both prosecute and defend, and he is a Grade 4 prosecutor.
He has a wide range of experience of criminal cases, embracing Murder, Attempted Murder, the full range of Sexual offences, and offences of Violence and Dishonesty
