John Venmore was educated at Dartmouth School in Devonshire. He was called to the Bar at the age of 30 years following a short sea-going career in the Merchant Navy and then in the Maritime Branch of the Army (RASC and RCT). He retains an interest in nautical matters, and in personal injury cases arising out of sea or water based accidents
For almost 30 years he has specialised in personal injury work including fatal accident claims, industrial disease claims, work-related stress claims and work place accidents including mining accidents. He also specialises in clinical negligence claims, as recognised by Chambers & Partners Guide to the Legal Profession, whose 2008 edition describes him in Band 1 as "...a sought after advocate". He additionally has expertise in professional negligence claims arising out of the conduct of personal injury and clinical negligence actions.
His practice is not confined to the Wales & Chester Circuit; he also practices from his home in South Devon.
